Cybersecurity / Endpoint protection
Security that is measured, not promised.
No single product stops every attack. What works for small offices is a short list of controls applied everywhere, checked every week, and reported in plain language. That is the job we do.
The stack
Your security, layer by layer
| Layer | What we put in place | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | MFA on every account, phishing-resistant methods for admins, separate admin accounts, sign-in alerts | Most account takeovers start with a stolen password |
| Endpoints | Managed endpoint protection with behavioral detection, disk encryption, local admin removed | Stops common malware and limits what a compromised laptop can reach |
| Patching | Operating system and third-party app updates, with priority for flaws on the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities list | Attackers use known holes first |
| Filtering, impersonation protection, SPF, DKIM and DMARC alignment | Invoice fraud and credential phishing arrive by email | |
| Network | Firewall rules reviewed, remote access behind MFA, guest Wi-Fi isolated | Limits how far an intruder can move |
| Backup | Immutable or offline copy, restore tests on a schedule | Recovery without paying a ransom |
| People | Short phishing awareness sessions and a verify-by-phone rule for payment changes | The last control is a person who pauses |
Monitoring
What happens when something trips
Enrolled devices report to Ares RMM, which raises alerts for disabled protection, detected threats, failed patches, unusual sign-ins and backup failures. During business hours an alert opens a ticket and a technician reviews it. Alerts that point to an active threat are worked before routine tickets. Automated monitoring runs continuously; staffed response outside business hours depends on the coverage written into your agreement, and we will not describe it as anything more than that.
- A suspected compromised account is locked and its sessions revoked first, then investigated.
- A suspected infected device is isolated from the network where the endpoint tool allows it.
- You get a written summary: what happened, what we did, what we recommend changing.
Proof
How you can check our work
- Pick any laptop in the office and ask for its patch level and protection status. You should get an answer from the portal in minutes.
- Ask for the list of accounts without MFA. The right answer is an empty list, or a short list with a written reason for each exception.
- Ask when the last restore test ran and how long it took.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is antivirus enough?
Not on its own. Endpoint protection is one layer. Most incidents we see in small offices involve a stolen password, an unpatched system or a convincing email, so identity, patching and email controls matter as much as the endpoint tool.
Do you provide a security operations center?
We monitor alerts from Ares RMM and the endpoint protection platform and respond according to your plan. If your insurer or a contract requires a staffed round-the-clock security operations service, we will scope that separately and tell you exactly who provides it.
Will security tools slow our computers down?
Modern endpoint tools are light. We roll changes out to a small group first and adjust exclusions for your line-of-business software before enforcing anything office wide.
Can you help with a cyber insurance questionnaire?
Yes. We answer the technical questions with evidence from your environment, and we flag anything the questionnaire asks for that is not yet in place so you do not overstate your controls.
What if we already had an incident?
Contact us. We can help contain it, preserve evidence, restore from backup and work with your insurer or attorney. Some incidents need a specialist forensics firm, and we will say so.
